Congratulations to the Watermont Bullfrogs for a great meet swum this past weekend against the South Carroll Serpents.

We had over 150 best times, and 70 different swimmers scored points!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that is a team effort!

That said - we have another exciting and very competitive meet at home against the Padonia Pooh Bears this coming Saturday - July 5th. WE WILL PRACTICE AS USUAL ON JULY 4th.

Parents a few house keeping things.

1. Please sign up to help at the meet. With this being a holiday weekend - there are many families out of town. It is important that everyone that is able to help - to help during the meet. If you can help in more than one area, that would be wonderful. I know there are several of you that already do this. Last weekend I found myself recruiting someone to help me fill many voids in the volunteer sheet, and even at the beginning of the meet we were still short in several key areas. However, you guys stepped up, filled the voids and the meet ran very smoothly after that. So PLEASE sign up - help keep me from being frazzled Saturday morning.
2. At home meets, because of our limited space, we reserve the parking lot, and we also set aside a section of the pool grounds for our guests. Because of all the tents, If you come later than Friday evening, I know it can be difficult to find a place to pitch your pop up tent or even a place to sit. However, I ask that if there is no room to pitch your tent in designated Watermont area, please DO NOT set up in the visitors section until after 9:30AM on Saturday. The swim team does set up a large tent right by the entrance gate that is open to anyone who wishes to sit there. Or invite yourself in to sit with another swim team family that has a tent already set up. This is one big social event, and does become more enjoyable as you get to know new families. So don't be shy or come see me, and I will help you join the others. Help Watermont continue to be the excellent hosts we are!!!
3. Please have your swimmers to the pool no later than 7:45am on Saturday for check-in and warm-ups. Some swimmers come from a morning practice, and can not be at the pool until later. I know who you are, and we will see you when you get here.

Thank you for all your help.
Peggy McKissick

P.S. If there is any of you looking for an excuse not to go to the fireworks on Friday evening, we could use help in getting the pool ready for the meet. We will start set up around 7:30-8:00pm (depending on how crowded the pool is).

Swim-A-Thon for the American Cancer Society!

Watermont Swim Team will be hosting our Annual Swim-A-Thon and this year the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. All swimmers are invited to participate. The American Cancer Society was chosen this year as the Swim-A-Thon cause since cancer has touched our members closely. We are doing this in honor and celebration of Coach Lynn who is a breast cancer survivor, Eileen Bednar who is an ovarian cancer survivor, and Caroline Herrmann a 14 year old member of our team currently fighting brain cancer. Let’s do our best to raise money to find a cure! The date of the American Cancer Society Swim-A-Thon is Tuesday, July 8. Each child is asked to return the attached sponsor form to his/her coach on the day of the swim-a-thon. Please list the individual sponsors and the amount each person is sponsoring per lap. Some of your donors may prefer to give a set donation to ACS rather than an “amount per lap”; that is fine too! The children will swim as many laps as they can, and will be encouraged along the way. A treat will follow as a way to celebrate the children's success. When the children have finished swimming, sponsor sheets will be returned (that day or the following day) showing the number of laps your child swam. We will do the math to determine their sponsors’ final contributions and will indicate the total due. The ACS and Watermont Swim team are working together to have fun and incentive prizes for the participants. A list of prizes, and prize levels, is attached. Donations may be cash or checks (payable to The American Cancer Society.) All donations are tax deductible and your check will serve as your receipt.

If you have any questions, or would like to volunteer to help with the Swim-A-Thon, contact Donna Smith, 410-379-5496.

**Thank you in advance for taking part in this worth-while event. Please deposit your collected donations to the swim team mailbox. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!*

The final score to Saturday's meet against Forest Hill was Forest Hill 243.5 Watermont 236.5. Even though we lost, we had many great swims from our team. Two of our team records were broken, 141 best times were had, 34 different Watermont swimmers helped contribute to our points scored, and 31 swimmers swam their first meet on Saturday.

This Saturday we host our first meet of the 2008 season against the South Carroll Serpents. To get ready for our first home meet, we will start once again with a Pasta Dinner Friday evening. Dinner will start around 6:30. Please bring a dish to share IN A NON BREAKABLE CONTAINER, swim team will provide, paper products, drinks, bread and salad. There will be a $5.00 per family charge to help cover the costs. Our pep rally will start right after dinner and will include nail painting - tattoos, poster making and if the T-shirts arrive, the kids will have an opportunity to decorate their shirts with "puffy" paint. Along with many other fun activities with our amazing coaches!

Set-up for the meet will start Friday evening around 8:30pm. All help is welcome.

Saturday:
*Please arrive by 7:45am to be ready for warm-ups that begin at 8am sharp.
*Anyone interested in singing the National Anthem on Saturday or at one of our other 2 home meets, please email me at pmckissick5108@verizon.net
*If you haven't had a chance to sign up to help at the meet yet, please do so, the signup sheets are located in the clubhouse on the swim team bulletin board.
*Reminder: we do save our parking lot for our visiting team. Please park out on Bellanca or Gardenview.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Peggy

Hello Bullfrog Families!

Looking forward to another exciting and fun-filled season with the Mighty Bullfrogs! Thanks to so many of you for sending your swimmer's event preferences and strengths/weaknesses. Please do so if you haven't had the chance yet. Send to crazy-coach-lynn@hotmail.com

We recognize many of the returning names and have a good idea what events those swimmers feel strongest and most confident in swimming.

It's still good to hear what THEY select as their top choices.

As for the new Bullfrogs...welcome and don't worry!! The most important goal for Summer swimmers is to enjoy taking part in this highly spirited sport. We strive to provide a fun, safe environment with lots of planned activities each week. Asking for preferences is just one way to help us get the 1st meet lineup ready. With newer swimmers, it gives you a chance to mention a possible strength that your swimmer may have that we have not had an opportunity to observe yet.

Being just a few weeks in total, we will try our best to cover and teach much about the mechanics of each stroke and the competitive aspect of swimming.

**Most new and very young swimmers will be entered in free and back, and sometimes a relay.

If your new swimmer has a strength in breast or fly, please let us know.

It takes many, many hours of time to construct a matrix for each swim meet and any input from you is of great help!!

See you poolside!
Crazy Coach Lynn

WELCOME BULLFROG FAMILIES!!

With the heat this week, our pool will be warm and ready for our Bullfrogs to begin!! In preparation for the start of our season...a little input from our families is needed. Please send me any special information that the coaches may need to be aware of... the more informed, the better for all!

If your swimmer is a NEW BULLFROG-
please send me a little information about abilities, favorite strokes/events, strengths-weaknesses, previous team experience, special needs, etc...

If your swimmer is A RETURNING BULLFROG-
please send me a note with favorite events listed in order of preference.

This information is extremely important so that the season will start smoothly! Looking forward to another super season with the MIGHTY BULLFROGS!!

See you poolside!

With the weather so dreadful outside - it is hard to believe that summer is just around the corner!!! With summer just around the corner, it means that our summer swim season will be starting soon too! Once again, we have made arrangements for some coach supervised spring swimming warm ups at UMBC on Sunday late afternoons in April and May.

The details are as follows:
Dates: Sundays April 6, 13, 20, 27, May 4, and 18
Time: 4-5pm
Cost: $40.00 per swimmer
Who's eligible to participate: Any pool member ages 4-18 that can swim a lap

Attached is the registration form. Please complete and mail to Mark Gretz at the address listed on the bottom of the form.

We are working with UMBC on swim lessons for those kids who would like to join swim team, but may not be quite ready (can not swim a lap) If you are interested in these swim lessons please contact me at pmckissick1@comcast.net or 410-796-8142, so we can make sure we have enough instructors available at the practice times, and have those kids registered thru UMBC. Lessons will be 30 minutes at a cost of $60 for the 6 weeks. The registration for lessons will be done seperately because the lessons are being taught by UMBC.

Directions to UMBC: Route 1 to 195 West towards Catonsville, take the UMBC exit. At the bottom of the exit turn right. At the 1st stop sign turn left. Parking is available in the parking garage - underneath $.50 (quarters only) or on top is metered parking

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank You,
Peggy McKissick

I have added about 15 pictures to the Team Pictures section. Web site space is limited so I reduced the size and quality of the pictures. Next year, I expect to remove many old pictures from years past, and results from long ago, that are taking up our web space. That'll make more room for more, newer, 2008 pictures from all of you shutter bugs. So next year, send me your best pictures!

This concludes my updates for the 2007 season. See you next year!
